Poll shows Finland nationals are progressively unhappy with their government

(MENAFN) A recent survey conducted on behalf of Helsingin Sanomat, Finland's largest daily newspaper, has unveiled increasing dissatisfaction among Finnish citizens towards the government led by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, aged 53. According to the poll, a significant 45percent of respondents expressed discontent with the current cabinet's performance, marking a notable 10percent rise since the previous survey conducted six months ago.

The survey, conducted by Verian (formerly Kantar Public) from June 19 to 24, polled 1,120 people across mainland Finland, excluding the Aland Islands. It revealed that while around one third of respondents remained satisfied with the government, nearly half indicated disappointment with Prime Minister Orpo's policies, compared to 33percent dissatisfied in December, now rising to 47percent.

In terms of individual ministerial approval, Defense Minister Antti Hakkanen received the highest satisfaction rating at 51percent, followed by Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen at 43percent. Conversely, Finance Minister Riikka Purra, Economy Minister Wille Rydman, and Social Affairs and Health Minister Kaisa Juuso were regarded least favorably by respondents.

The survey findings highlight a significant shift in public sentiment towards Finland's political leadership, underscoring a growing discontentment with both the overall government's performance and Prime Minister Orpo's policy direction. This evolving landscape poses challenges for the government as it navigates public opinion and works to address concerns raised by Finnish citizens.
