Shia Body Boycotts J&K Govt's Muharram Meetings


(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Shia Association, led by Molvi Imran Reza Ansari, has announced its decision to boycott all government meetings related to the upcoming month of Muharram. Imran Ansari took to the social media app 'X' formerly twitter to express his discontent.

“With six days left for Muharram to start, the Lieutenant Governor wakes up and holds a high-level meeting to facilitate. God, it seems he has a magic trick to make arrangements. Janab LG Sb please take care of SANJY, we can take care of Muharram 2024 ourselves,” Imran, a former Minister posted on X.

Recently, during a TV interview, Imran had expressed similar views and called governments Muharram arrangements as“Half Hearted”

General Secretary of the Shia Association & former MLA Zadibal, Abid Ansari, also voiced his dissatisfaction through a video posted on“X” which showed gates of the Imambargah Zadibal locked.

“No entry for Srinagar Administration's 'Muharram arrangements' at Imam Bargah Zadibal! We're not buying their last-minute, half-hearted efforts to appease the community. No more 'eye wash'! Our decision to boycott their meetings is a testament to our unity and resolve,” he stated.

In the days leading up to this announcement, General Secretary Shia Association, Abid Ansari had issued a notice to the members of the Shia community.

“In light of the recent decision by all JK Shia Associations to boycott Muharram meetings with the JK Administration, we are calling upon dedicated individuals to join our efforts in honoring the sacred occasion of Muharram,” the notice stated.

“We are initiating a volunteer registration process to form a team of 'Khedmatgaran e Azadaran e Imam Hussain (AS)' to assist with Jaloos e Aza and Majalis e Aza across Kashmir. Together, let us come forward to serve the community and uphold the values of Imam Hussain (AS),” It added.
