Global Steel Leaders Gather At Danieli Group Innovaction Meeting 2024

From May 28 to 30, 2024, the town of Buttrio in Udine, Friuli Venezia Giulia, became the focal point of the global steel industry, hosting the prestigious Danieli InnovAction Meeting. This significant event, organized by Danieli Group at its headquarters, brought together 60% of the world's steel industry, with 728 entrepreneurs and experts from 75 countries across five continents.
Danieli Group introduces InnovAction Meeting 2024
The Danieli InnovAction Meeting 2024 was officially introduced during a press conference by key figures of Danieli Group: Vice Chairwoman and Chairwoman of ABS Camilla Benedetti, CEO Giacomo Mareschi Danieli, CEO Rolando Paolone and ABS's CEO Stefano Scolari. Giacomo Mareschi Danieli highlighted the significance of this event, stating:“This year's edition is the fifth Danieli InnovAction Meeting (DIM), which we believe is a valid example of how innovation and collaboration can drive the steel industry towards a more sustainable future”.“The market is changing rapidly and demands innovation and resilience – Camilla Benedetti added – Our Group, which started as a small company, now offers 25 product lines, has closed the fiscal year with over 4 billion euros in revenue, and holds an order backlog of 6 billion euros” The meeting, marking the fifth Danieli InnovAction Meeting (DIM), featured four comprehensive sessions. These sessions delved into critical topics such as macroeconomic and geopolitical trends, the market for raw materials and metals, the availability of renewable energy, and the digitization of steel mills.
Danieli Group: cutting-edge technologies and strategic partnerships
The event was also a platform to showcase cutting-edge technologies that are shaping the future of steelmaking. In fact, participants also had the opportunity to visit several Danieli Group centres and explore innovative technologies developed by the company. These included Mida, a Danieli-exclusive technology; the QOne electric furnace; Due, Danieli Universal Endless, and innovative hydrogen-fueled direct reduction plants. In addition to highlighting technological advances, the meeting shed light on Danieli Group's ongoing projects and partnerships. In particular, the company confirmed the progress of its partnership with Metinvest. CEO Giacomo Mareschi Danieli emphasized the complexity of the deal but expressed optimism for the creation of the first plant of its kind in Europe. He also addressed the potential opportunity to participate in a new tender for a direct reduction plant in Taranto, following the cancellation of the previous tender awarded to German company Paul Wurth.
