Irbid, July 2 (Petra) -- The Irbid Chamber of industry (ICI) reported that the total value of certificates of origin issued in June 2024 amounted to $108.3 million, dropping 3.6 percent from $112.6 million in the same month last year.
It said in a report that 1,330 certificates of origin were issued in June 2024, compared to 1,201 in June 2023.
The textile and leather sector led the exports at a value of $100.4 million, marking a 4.7 percent drop. Food followed, at $2.6 million, and the therapeutic industry and medical supplies hit $1.9 million, with a growth rate of 7.6 percent. Other exports included chemicals, cosmetics, engineering, electrical, mining, construction, packaging, paper, cardboard, and plastic industries.
Al-Hassan Industrial Estate took the lion's share of exports, accounting for over 90 percent, based on ICI certificates of origin, and Cyber City followed with about 8 percent.
ICI President Hani Abu Hassan attributed the decline in the key industries, which account for 95 percent of total certificates of origin issued by the Irbid chamber, to low market demand despite growth in the chemical industry sector.
