Yemen Airways Resumes Direct Flights To Kuwait

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ADEN, June 15 (KUNA) - Yemen Airways (Yemenia) resumed direct flights from Aden International Airport to Kuwait International Airport on Saturday, after nine years of disruption due to the civil war.
In a press statement, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yemen Airways Nasser Mahmoud commended Kuwait for facilitating the resumption of the direct flights.
Mahmoud pointed out that this important route serves Yemeni expatriates in Kuwait and their families.
It also facilitates mutual communication and official visits as well as promotes travel and trade exchange between the two Arab countries, he said.
Mahmoud announced that the company is preparing to launch direct flights to Doha and Dubai in the near future. This is part of an ambitious plan to resume all air services that were in operation before the war including to a number of African countries.
Yemeni Minister of Transportation Abdulsalam Hamid thanked the Yemenia and the Ministry of Transportation for their efforts to resume direct flights to Kuwait.
He affirmed the Ministry of Transport's commitment to help the national carrier utilize its resources and assets and expand its air fleet.
Yemen Airways, which is owned equally by the Yemeni and Saudi governments, suspended its flights to most regional and international destinations since the outbreak of war in Yemen in 2015 and lost a number of its planes, but it has recently bolstered its fleet with a number of aircraft to restore key routes.
