Governor claims four people together with reporter wounded after hitting landmine in Russia
(MENAFN) Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov of Belgorod Region, Russia, has reported that three soldiers from a local territorial defense unit and a Russia 24 cameraman sustained injuries following an explosion on Monday. In a Telegram post, Governor Gladkov disclosed that the journalist suffered the most severe wounds, sustaining shrapnel injuries to the shoulder and abdomen. The cameraman was also hospitalized in serious condition, while another individual was admitted with shrapnel wounds to the limbs. Two soldiers incurred light injuries and received on-site treatment.
Emergency services are currently deployed at the blast site, although Governor Gladkov did not provide specific details regarding the type or source of the explosive device. The incident occurred in Shebekino, a town situated near the Russian-Ukrainian border, which has frequently faced indiscriminate artillery and missile attacks from Kiev amid ongoing conflict.
Belgorod Region has been targeted by Ukrainian assaults in recent months, with the area experiencing repeated attacks on residential areas using rocket artillery and drones. Additionally, there have been instances of Ukrainian forces attempting incursions into Russian territory.
Earlier in May, Russian troops initiated a military operation in the neighboring Ukrainian Kharkov Region, seizing control of several towns and villages along the border in an effort to establish a buffer zone to mitigate further attacks on Russian soil.
