Pentagon looks into books on Russian army tactic
(MENAFN) The United States Department of Defense has recently issued an order for a selection of books authored by Western researchers, focusing on Russian and Chinese military strategies. The order, placed through the government's e-procurement system in mid-May, is intended for United States Air Force personnel stationed at Maxwell Air Force Base in Alabama, home to the Air Force Historical Research Agency and Air University.
Among the books included in the order are 'Strategiya: The Foundations of the Russian Art of Strategy' by Ofer Fridman, 'Russian Grand Strategy in the Era of Global Power Competition' by Andrew Monaghan, and 'Putin's War on Ukraine: Russia's Campaign for Global Counter-Revolution' by Samuel Ramani. Additionally, the order includes 'The Seven Military Classics of Ancient China' alongside two other books focusing on the combat application of artificial intelligence and space warfare.
The Pentagon plans to purchase 600 copies of each book by mid-June, reflecting a concerted effort to enhance the understanding of Russian and Chinese military doctrines among United States military personnel. This initiative follows the release of a comprehensive overview of Russian military strategy and tactics by the United States military's Combined Arms Doctrine Directorate (CADD) in February, which highlighted the importance of analyzing developments on the battlefield in Ukraine.
It's important to note that the materials ordered are not classified and are intended for distribution among United States military officers and personnel serving in allied armies. This initiative underscores the significance of staying abreast of evolving military strategies and capabilities, particularly in the context of potential confrontations between major powers. As geopolitical dynamics continue to evolve, a thorough understanding of adversary strategies is essential for ensuring national security and preparedness in an increasingly complex global landscape.
