Azerbaijan-Georgian Mfas Conduct Next Round Of Political Consultations


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 20. The next round ofpolitical consultations between the Foreign Ministries ofAzerbaijan and Georgia was held in Baku, Trend reports, referringto the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

The Azerbaijani delegation was headed by Deputy Foreign MinisterSamir Sharifov, while the Georgian delegation was headed by FirstDeputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia.

During the consultations, the current state and prospects forthe development of bilateral cooperation between the countries inpolitical, trade-economic, transport-energy, cultural-humanitarian,and other spheres were discussed.

Furthermore, the sides expressed satisfaction with the currentlevel of ties between the countries, emphasizing that the mutuallybeneficial strategic partnership relations developing in theconditions of good neighborliness are an important factor for thedevelopment of the South Caucasus region, and in particular, thatthe world-scale energy and transport projects implemented throughjoint efforts and with the participation of the two countriesensure the foundations of economic development in the region, aswell as contribute to stability and security.

The meeting emphasized the importance of high-level mutualvisits and the activity of the Joint Intergovernmental Commissionon Economic Issues.

Meanwhile, a continuation of the practice of coordination andmutual support on issues of importance for both countries withinthe framework of international and regional organizations, as wellas the Azerbaijan-Turkey-Georgia trilateral and other multilateralcooperation platforms, was highlighted.

In addition, the sides exchanged views on regional securityissues, the legal framework, and draft documents underconsideration.

The Georgian side was informed about the organization of the29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN FrameworkConvention on Climate Change (COP29), which Azerbaijan will hold inNovember this year.

In the course of the meeting, the Georgian side was informedabout the steps taken by Azerbaijan towards the normalization ofArmenian-Azerbaijani relations and the establishment of stablepeace in the region.
