World Bank Appoints New Country Manager For Kyrgyzstan


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 15. Hugh Riddell has beenappointed as the World bank Country Manager for Kyrgyzstan, asannounced today by the World Bank, Trend reports.

Based in Bishkek, Riddell will oversee the World Bank'sactivities in the country, which include engaging in policydialogues with government officials, civil society, the privatesector, and development partners. Additionally, he will beresponsible for managing the World Bank country team and ensuringthe successful implementation of the Country PartnershipFramework.

Prior to his appointment, Riddell, a UK national, served invarious roles within the World Bank since 2007, including positionsin Washington, D.C., Afghanistan, and East Africa. He most recentlyserved as the Country Manager for Malawi from July 2020 to April2024. Before joining the World Bank, Riddell gained experienceworking with the United Nations, the European Commission, as wellas in investment banking and journalism.

I look forward to continuing ourconstructive dialogue regarding critical reforms, especially in theenergy, water, and agriculture sectors.
