(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. On the eve of theBaku COP29 summit, a 100 kW floating solar power plant(photovoltaic system) will be put into operation on the BoyukshorLake, Trend reports via the Azerbaijani Ministry of Energy,following a meeting with the delegation of the Asian DevelopmentBank (ADB).
"As part of ADB's "technical assistance and knowledge exchangefor advancing floating solar panel technology" pilot project, thesignificance of launching a photovoltaic system of up to 100 kWcapacity on Boyukshor Lake ahead of the COP29 event wasunderscored," the report reads.
The general contractor for this station is the Spanish GammaSolutions business, which is well-known for its significantexperience in solar and wind farm development around the world.
The Boyukshor Lake station will be made up of three sections ofphotovoltaic panels that will function on the same concept as solarpanels, with a DC photovoltaic generator converting solar energyinto electrical energy.
This November, Azerbaijan will host COP29. This decision wasmade at the COP28 plenary meeting held in Dubai on December 11 lastyear. Baku will become the center of the world and will receiveabout 70–80,000 foreign guests.
