Azerbaijani Energy Ministry Highlights Priority Areas Of Co-Work With ADB


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 4. Azerbaijani EnergyMinister Parviz Shahbazov named priority projects for cooperationat a meeting with a delegation of the Asian Development Bank (ADB),Trend reports.

"The Minister announced intentions to commission nine renewableenergy (RES) projects by 2027. Azerbaijan's plans to use offshorewind energy were also highlighted. Green hydrogen, solar panelinstallation on Nakhchivan buildings, decarbonization of heatsupply, and the Energy Efficiency Fund's efforts are among the toppriorities.

Following a meeting with the head of ADB's Central and West AsiaDepartment, Eugene Zhukov, the leadership of the Ministry of Energyof Azerbaijan agreed to take additional steps and hold frequentmeetings," the statement of the Ministry says.

ADB is one of Azerbaijan's key sources of official developmentassistance. Current ADB operations are being implemented under thecountry partnership strategy, 2019–2023, which aims to boostprivate sector development, raise public sector efficiency, improveinfrastructure, and strengthen human capital. The strategy isclosely aligned with the Government of Azerbaijan's strategic roadmaps for the national economy and main economic sectors. A newcountry partnership strategy for 2024–2028 is expected to beimplemented by 2024.
