France's Influence In Yet Another African Country Wanes

(MENAFN- Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, March 29. France has lost itspolitical influence in yet another African country, Trend reports.

The newly elected President of Senegal Bassirou Diomaye DiakharFaye promised to sever the last ties with the former colonialpower. He furthermore plans to discontinue the usage of the CFAfranc, the currency employed in the former French territoriesacross West and Equatorial Africa.

In 2023, French diplomacy experienced a notable decline ininfluence across Africa.

Faced with military coups and political upheaval, France'sformer allies redirected their foreign policies, impacting France'sdiplomatic stance.

The weakening of France's diplomacy has been notable, and theintroduction of a new law tightening immigration regulations forforeigners has only worsened the situation.

Anticipated serious challenges loom for French interests inAfrica, particularly following the power shifts in Niger andBurkina Faso, previously pivotal points of French militaryinfluence in the region.
