Joseph R. Gannascoli, Actor, Author, Celebrity Chef and Brand Ambassador for Rocavaka, was recently selected as Top Celebrity Chef of the Year by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for his outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry.
Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All Honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.
With over four decades of experience, Mr. Gannascoli started his career as a professional chef in 1981. From there he worked in several restaurants across the country like Manhattan Market, Commander's Palace, and many others. He also owns a restaurant in Brooklyn named Soup As Art Restaurant. Mr. Gannascoli later left his cooking career to try his hands in acting.
The actor's
first Hollywood appearance
came as a supporting role in the 1993 crime-comedy film
Money For Nothing. He then played similar minor roles in various other 90s films like
Ed Wood
(1994),
Never Talk to Strangers
(1995),
The Funeral
(1996),
Mickey Blue Eyes
(1999), among many others.
Finally, Mr. Gannascoli found his career's main break with the HBO TV series,
The Sopranos. He appeared as a recurring character Vito Spatafore in the show from 1999 to 2006. Since then, he has regularly appeared with
notable roles in movies. His works include the 2011 movie
White Collar, 2012 action movie
Men in Black 3, 2014 movie
Rob the Mob, and 2015 thriller film
An Act of War. Mr. Gannascoli's most recent big-screen appearance was in the 2020 romantic film
The One.
Mr. Gannascoli is back to his passion of cooking by hosting Sopranos-themed private chef parties on Long Island and in New Jersey and beyond. The parties, with a minimum of 16 guests, feature an impressive array of dishes specially prepared by Gannascoli, from appetizers like antipasto to pasta and a main dish of either chicken, fish, or beef.
Favorites include his clam and vodka sauces.
Mr. Gannascoli also became an Ambassador for Rocavaka, a new delicious vodka line currently available! He is extremely passionate about Rocavaka, he says“it's the finest, smoothest vodka I've ever tasted” and many agree.
Joe makes his very unique penne ala Rocavaka in many restaurants.
Prior to his career, Mr. Gannascoli attended St. John's University in New York as a Communications major. He later mastered the arts of cooking and began his career as a professional cook.
Throughout his illustrious career, Mr. Gannascoli has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for his accomplishments. This year, he will be on the famous Nasdaq Billboard in Times Square NYC and will be considered for a feature in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. He will be honored at IAOTP's annual awards gala at Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville this December for his selection as Top Celebrity Chef of the Year.
Aside from his successful career, during the pandemic Mr. Gannascoli started a GoFundMe campaign to provide meals for hospital workers, firefighters, and other emergency responders. With a goal of raising $50,000, he has successfully gathered over $45,000 in donations. The actor used these funds to order food from local restaurants in New York, such as Villa Maria, Vincent's Clam Bar, Greek Xpress, and Habanero Mexican.

Looking back, Mr. Gannascoli attributes his success to his perseverance, work ethic and mentors he had along the way.
