Israeli activist describes forcible displacement of Palestinians in Gaza "initial stage of ethnic cleansing"

(MENAFN) Israeli human rights activist Ofer Neiman has expressed concern, characterizing the Israeli army's actions in forcibly displacing Palestinians from the north to the south of the Gaza Strip as the "initial stage of ethnic cleansing."

The ongoing Israeli attacks, spanning over a month, appear to be strategically aimed at compelling Gazans to move towards the border with Egypt in the southern part of the enclave.

Disturbing images depict tens of thousands of civilians, including women, children, and individuals of various ages, heading towards the Egyptian border in a desperate attempt to escape the ongoing bombardment. These scenes evoke memories of the mass displacement experienced by hundreds of thousands of Palestinians during the establishment of Israel in 1948.

In an interview with a news outlet, Neiman voiced his concern, suggesting that the Israeli government is actively promoting ethnic cleansing by forcibly relocating Palestinians from Gaza to the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt. The gravity of the situation raises broader questions about the humanitarian impact of such actions and the potential ramifications for the affected population.

"We also see that the south of Gaza is not safe for the Palestinians,” he declared. “We witness the attacks and bombings of the Israeli army against the Palestinians there, too.”

"I think we need to understand that the Israeli government does not want to see Palestinians in Gaza," Ofer added.

"I do not think even US President Joe Biden will allow this," The activist declared, emphasizing that despite lingering doubts, the Israeli government has not hesitated to pursue what appears to be a policy of ethnic cleansing in Gaza.
