Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women visits Dubai Foundation for Women and Children

The Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has received a delegation from the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW) as part of their collaborative efforts to combat violence against women and children.
The visit aimed to foster mutual understanding and cooperation between the two entities, focusing on sharing best practices and learning about the foundation's exemplary services and programs dedicated to supporting survivors of violence and human trafficking.
The Global Alliance delegation, consisting of esteemed representatives from the UAE, Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, embarked on a knowledge-sharing journey at the DFWAC. The delegation included Francis Solomantine, Programme Coordinator at the Middle East Centre for Training and Development; Riji Joy, Secretary at the Centre; Dina Habib, Researcher in Migration at the Centre; Andrew Samuel, Executive Director of Community Development Services (CDS) in Sri Lanka; Sheena Bashir, Member of the Self Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) in India; Renu Rajbhandari, Co-Founder of the Women’s Rehabilitation Centre (WOREC) in Nepal; Shakirul Islam, Chairperson of Ovibashi Karmi Unnayan Programme (OKUP) in Bangladesh; and Bandana Pattnaik, International Coordinator of the Global Alliance Against Traffic in Women (GAATW) in Thailand.
HE Sheikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director General of the Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, expressed her deep satisfaction with the visit, underscoring the foundation's critical role in combating human trafficking and providing essential assistance to victims of domestic violence. She emphasised that the Dubai Foundation for Women & Children is committed to offering comprehensive support and necessary services that restore the rights of survivors and furnish them with vital psychological and social support.
The delegation's visit commenced with a session introducing the guests to the mission and goals of the foundation. The visit also included a tour of the foundation's facilities to learn about its state-of-the-art facilities, safe shelters, workshops, and rehabilitation programmes.
