Moscow starts investigating assaults on activists in Chechnya

(MENAFN) Russia’s Investigative Committee (IC) declared on Wednesday that it had started a federal criminal probe into the ruthless assault on media reporter Elena Milashina as well as attorney Aleksandr Nemov in Chechnya.

The chief of IC for Chechnya Vitaly Volkov established that the agency is looking into breaching of Article 112 as well as Article 115 of the Russian criminal code – the planned appendence of light as well as medium physical harm – also looking to detect as well as capture the suspects in what happened on Tuesday`s morning.

Milashina as well Nemov were driving a car from Grozny airport to the Chechen capital to be at an important trial, when their car was halted by three other vehicles. Around 10 to 15 men allegedly got out the vehicles, drawn both of them to the side of the street, and beat them.

Based on to North Ossetian human rights commissioner, Tamerlan Tsogoev, the attackers allegedly shaved Milashina’s head, poured green cleanser dye all over her as they also broke some of her fingers, whereas Nemov was injured in the leg with a knife.
