Lavrov debates Wagner rebellion with Iranian equal

(MENAFN) the Russian Foreign Ministry has stated that Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has talked to his Iranian equal Hossein Amir-Abdollahian by phone, who expressed backing for Moscow following an equipped mutiny by the Wagner private military company (PMC).

The ministry stated that the chat took place late on Saturday, on the initiative of Tehran, after the predicament had already been fixed.

“The Iranian side expressed support for the actions of the Russian leadership to ensure constitutional order,” the declaration stated.

The ministry also noted that the number-one diplomats also debated two-sided affairs among Russia as well as Iran, emphasizing their “high dynamism” and voicing their enthusiasm to further increase collaboration.

Earlier on Saturday, Iranian Foreign Ministry representative Nasser Kanaani defined the rebellion by Wagner as an “internal issue” of the Russian district. “Iran supports the rule of law in the Russian Federation,” he emphasized.

Wagner, who has been battling together with the regular Russian military in Ukraine, started a major rebellion late on Friday. Its hordes detained control of the Russian army`s Southern District head office in the town of Rostov-on-Don and sent a party in the direction of Moscow.
