These vibrant creatures play a crucial role in all freshwater ecosystems as they help control algae growth and are a source of food for a multitude of other aquatic beings. These little fish are often under-represented but have a complex social structure, can be very territorial, and go through elaborate courtship rituals.
Guests looking to embrace their inner merman or mermaid and swim among schools of these rainbow hued fishes can opt for the unique ‘Snorkel with Cichlid’ and feeding experience. Starting 22nd June, guests can dive into the world's largest freshwater cichlid aquarium for a captivating ‘Snorkel with Cichlid’ experience and get the chance to feed the Rainbow River’s bright occupants for AED 230 per person. Coupled with full-day access to The Green Planet for AED 160, visitors can also explore the wonders of the 3,000 plants and animals that make up the spectacular biodome. Those looking to keep dry can choose to feed the multicoloured fishes from the surface for just AED 15.
Visitors interested in marine biology and to learn about these kaleidoscopic aquatic creatures can join educational talks hosted by The Green Planet’s expert biologists. Held daily and complimentary for all from 22nd to 25th June, sessions such as these aim to raise awareness and appreciation of mother nature’s beauties as well as an in-depth understanding of ocean conservation.
The Green Planet Dubai also offers an array of activities to keep junior guests delighted. Children can explore their underwater imagination with face painting in the Green Planet Café on weekends.
