Germany closes industrial capacity due to lack of Russian gas

(MENAFN) Germany is going to have to measure back or even close its economical volume if the shipments of Russian natural gas via Ukraine stop in 2024, Economy Minister Robert Habeck stated on Monday.

“There is no secure scenario for how things will turn out,” Habeck stated at the Ostdeutsches Wirtschaftsforum (OWF), an financial meeting in Bad Saarow.

Politicians in Berlin need to evade “making the same mistake again” by thinking that power scarcities would not influence the economy, he stated, as quoted by a news agency.

Although Kiev has charged Moscow of hostility, Russia proceeds to abide by the gas transport deal and pay Ukraine shipment dues.

However, given the present conditions, it is massively difficult for the deal to be extended when it ends at the end of next year.
