JTB, RJ Hold Tourist Promotional Ceremony In Tunis

Tunis, June 6 (Petra)- The Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) and the Royal Jordanian Airlines (RJ) organized a promotional ceremony in Tunis for the Jordan Destination.
In the ceremony, attended by travel and tourism agents, journalists and social media influencers, Jordan Ambassador to Tunisia, Maher Tarawneh lauded the distinguished relations between Jordan and Tunisia at various levels, especially in tourism, which recently witnessed the exchange of visits between travel and tourism agents in the two countries.
He pointed out to the positive indicators of the tourism and travel agencies competitiveness in the Kingdom, and its qualitative leap compared to last year, recording 19 points, as Jordan ranked 64th globally in the travel and tourism index.
He showcased the positive indicators of smart tourism in Jordan as well as the positive indicators of tourism development, as tourism income increased by 88 per cent during the first quarter of this year, recording an increase of 1.4 million tourists during the same period.
Tarawneh called on tourism and travel agents in Tunisia to visit Jordan and learn about its rich tourism products and historical and archaeological sites.
For his part, Director of the Tunisia and Morocco region at RJ, Ahmed Akour, spoke about RJ's ambitious 5-yerar plan, aimed at doubling the fleet to 44 aircrafts, the first batch of which will be handed over this year.
Akour added that the plan also aims to double international destinations to more than 60 globally.
He indicated that RJ achieved, on the Amman-Tunisia line only, a growth in PAX traffic by 51 per cent during the first third of 2023, and a growth in revenues by 61 per cent.
JTB representative, Khaled Al-Kilani, in turn, said that JTB's indicators are good, given that it started operating in the Tunisian market in 2017, and that the Covid-19 pandemic had disrupted activity during the past two years.
