Russian company gains popularity in UAE challenging Uber

(MENAFN) A news agency declared on Wednesday, quoting sources that Yango – a ride-hailing, delivery as well as e-grocery firm with Russian roots – is becoming popular and competing with sector majors Uber and Careem in Dubai.

Based on the statement, its cut of the domestic ride-hailing marketplace in May reached between 4 percent and 8 percent, lower than twelve months after the firm began processes in the United Arab Emarat’s most famous town.

Yango started in Dubai in September 2022. It’s functioned by Netherlands-located firm Ridetech International, previously Yandex Taxi, a secondary of Yandex NV, the Dutch-registered holding firm for the Russian IT corporation Yandex.

Experts said that the firm`s popularity comes from the overflow of Russian businesses and expatriates, who have been transferring to the United Arab Emarat’s during 2022 after anti-Russia restrictions forced in the West.

And in line with Islam Abdul Karim, Yango’s local general manager, the amount of orders for Yango rides is increasing at an average of around 20 percent on weekly basis.
