Doha, Qatar: Al Rayyan have officially bid farewell to one of their prominent strikers, Ivorian Yohan Boli, as his contract with the team has reached its conclusion.

The club expressed gratitude to Boli for his remarkable contribution during his three-season tenure. Since joining Al Rayyan in January 2020 from Belgium's Sint-Truiden, the 29-year-old striker showcased his skills by netting a total of 23 goals. Notably, he impressively scored 13 goals in the 2022-2023 season of the highly competitive QNB Stars League.

Boli played a major role in taking Al Rayyan to the final round of the AFC Champions League in 2022, a feat the team had not accomplished since the tournament's new format was introduced in 2003. Although they ultimately fell short, losing to Al Duhail in a penalty shootout (6-7) after a goalless draw in both regulation and extra time, Boli played a pivotal role in the team's memorable journey.

Earlier this month, Al Rayyan's management had announced the departure of their Chilean coach, Nicholas Cordova, who had been at the helm since the conclusion of the 2021-2022 season.

Cordova, aged 43, took charge following the departure of former French coach Laurent Blanc. However, during his tenure, Al Rayyan failed to secure domestic success, as the team languished near relegation to the second division for most of the 2022-2023 season. In the end, Al Rayyan finished ninth in the standings, accumulating 20 points from 5 wins, 5 draws, and 12 defeats.
