(MENAFN) The National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has launched vast exploration operations covering an area of 140,000 square kilometers, both offshore and onshore, to discover new hydrocarbon reserves in Iran. The exploration efforts aim to identify untapped deposits and expand the country's oil and gas resources. Mohsen Khojasteh-Mehr, the managing director of NIOC, highlighted the collaborative efforts of domestic entities such as the National Iranian South Oil Company (NISOC), NIOC's Exploration Department, and the Oil Industry Research Institute of Iran in this endeavor.
During a ceremony commemorating the 115th anniversary of Iran's first oil exploration in Masjed Soleyman, located in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, Khojasteh-Mehr spoke about NIOC's long-term vision for exploration. He emphasized their determination to conduct extensive exploration operations and secure the country's reserves. According to early studies, promising indications suggest the existence of significant untapped resources in Iran, particularly in the oil-rich Khuzestan Province.
Through collaboration among different entities within Iran's oil industry, the exploration efforts aim to uncover new oil and gas deposits across the country. By leveraging the expertise and resources of NISOC, NIOC's Exploration Department, and the Oil Industry Research Institute of Iran, the aim is to maximize exploration activities and ensure the continued growth and sustainability of Iran's hydrocarbon reserves.
The exploration operations play a vital role in Iran's long-term energy strategy and contribute to the country's economic development. Discovering and harnessing new oil and gas deposits not only strengthens Iran's position as a significant player in the global energy market but also supports domestic energy security and enhances the country's self-sufficiency in meeting its energy needs.
As NIOC continues its exploration activities, the focus remains on uncovering new reserves and maintaining a sustainable supply of oil and gas resources. The dedication to extensive exploration operations reflects Iran's commitment to securing its energy future and optimizing its hydrocarbon potential. Through ongoing studies and surveys, the hope is to unlock the vast untapped resources and further bolster Iran's position as a key player in the global energy sector.
