(MENAFN) According to the chairman of Iran's Ornamental Plants Research Center (OPRC), Hossein Bayat, a total of 8,251 hectares of land in the country are dedicated to the cultivation of flowers and ornamental plants. Among these, approximately 3,533 hectares are covered by greenhouses, while the remaining 4,717 hectares are cultivated in open spaces. This significant land area reflects the country's growing interest in the floral and ornamental plant industry.
However, Bayat recently highlighted some challenges that hinder the growth of Iran's export of flowers and ornamental plants. One of the main obstacles is the lack of permanent production, which disrupts the continuous supply of these products. This fluctuation in production makes it difficult to meet the demands of the export market throughout the year. Bayat emphasized the importance of establishing large-scale production centers supported by the government to ensure consistent and steady exports.
