Palestine Calls On UNESCO To Prevent Further Incursions In Nablus

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) RAMALLAH, May 8 (KUNA) -- Palestinian Prime Minister Muhammed Shtayyeh Monday called on UN's UNESCO to arbitrate the infringements on the settlement sites of the towns of Sebastia near Nablus.
Shtayyeh gave a statement prior to the Palestinian Cabinet meeting held in Ramallah saying that the continued aggression is going to lead to major destruction on historical sites.
Adding, he said the continued settlement expansions and attempts to seize Hebron municipality buildings are all violations and nothing but a continuation of the Nakba series that started in 1948.
He also pointed to the commemoration of the Nakba series next Monday which will be the first ceremonial remembrance by the UN with President Mahmoud Abbas taking part.
"We hope that this starts a promising beginning for active international mobilizations against the war of exterminations and ethnic cleansing practiced by Israeli extremists", added Shtayyeh.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the publication of contracts to build more than 1,000 new settlements in the West Bank.
The statement also mentioned that the occupation disregards all international positions and statements signed under international resolutions, which also undermine the two-state solution and the opportunity to embody the Palestinian state on the ground with East Jerusalem as its capital.
These continued settlement ventures and the contempt attitudes on American and international positions will lead to furthering a potential for dangerous activities, while also stressing the need to halt in order to re-establish confidence between both sides to negate political process to end the escalation.
