Memorandum of Understanding for encouraging cooperation among
Bulgartransgaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), FGSZ (Hungary),
EURSTREAM (Slovakia), and the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan
(SOCAR) was signed in Sofia (Bulgaria), trend reports from the
scene.
The document was signed by Azerbaijani Energy Minister
Parviz Shahbazov, Bulgarian Energy Minister Rossen Hristov,
Hungarian Foreign and Trade Minister Péter Szijjártó, Romanian
Energy Minister Virgil-Daniel Popescu and Slovak Economy Minister
Karel Hirman.
The MoU defines the areas of cooperation between the
four transmission system operators and SOCAR on the supply of
additional volumes of gas from Azerbaijan to Europe.
Additional gas supplies will be carried out through
the modernized gas transmission systems of Bulgaria, Romania,
Hungary and Slovakia - the so-called Solidarity Ring.
The signing of the document was proposed by
Bulgaria.
