Third Teen Suspect Caught in Florida Triple Homicide Case

(MENAFN) In a shocking turn of events, a 16-year-old boy wanted for his alleged involvement in the murder of three teenagers in central Florida was apprehended by law enforcement authorities, following the arrest of another teenager and a 12-year-old in connection with the same case. The young suspect was taken into custody by U.S. marshals in Groveland, Florida, which is located approximately 30 miles west of Orlando. The Marion County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that the 16-year-old is facing a litany of charges, including carjacking with a firearm, aggravated assault, grand theft of a motor vehicle, fleeing or attempting to elude a law enforcement officer, and tampering with an electronic monitoring device.
The two other suspects who were previously taken into custody were charged with first-degree murder last week. The case is still under review by prosecutors to determine whether the suspects will be charged as adults. It is worth noting that The Associated Press does not typically publish the names of juveniles unless they have been charged with adult crimes.
According to Marion County Sheriff Billy Woods, the suspects and victims were all traveling in a vehicle that belonged to 16-year-old Layla Silvernail at the time of the killings. Sadly, Silvernail was one of the victims, and the other two victims were a 16-year-old girl and a 17-year-old boy. The authorities have not yet released the names of the other two victims.
This tragedy has shaken the community, and the investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officials are urging anyone with information about the case to come forward and help bring justice to the families of the victims.
