ATLANTA (Pajhwok): Security forces have conducted operations in three locations of Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) said on Saturday.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the IEA spokesman, tweeted the raids were conducted by Special Forces in the fifth, sixth and eighth police districts of the city last night.
Mujahid wrote:“The operations targeting three hideouts, numerous insurgents were killed and weapons and ammunition seized. A security force member was also wounded.”
Mujahid did not provide further details, but social media users said they heard gunfire in Dasht-i-Shor area of Mazar-i-Sharif.
The IEA reported the killing of eight members of Daesh in the city some days ago, but residents claimed the victims were ordinate people.
