Over 225,000 Units of National Housing Movement Under Construction in Rural Areas
(MENAFN) According to Majid Joudi, the deputy head of the Housing Foundation of Islamic Revolution, more than 225,000 units of the National Housing Movement are currently under construction in rural areas. The National Housing Movement aims to construct four million housing units within four years, making it one of the major plans of the current government in the housing sector. Out of these four million residential units, 3.2 million units will be constructed in cities and 800,000 units in villages. Some of these units are currently being constructed after providing lands and preparing the necessary conditions.
The National Housing Movement is the government's second major program to provide affordable housing units for low-income classes after the National Housing Action Plan, which began in 2018. The operation for the construction of 209,212 residential units of the National Housing Movement started in early February. The ceremony to begin the operation and launch some development projects in the housing sector was attended by former Transport and Urban Development Minister Rostam Qasemi.
In late July, the minister inaugurated a project for the construction of the first group of affordable housing units for laborers under the framework of the National Housing Movement. The project aims to provide housing for low-income laborers who struggle to afford decent housing in Iran's cities. With the National Housing Movement, the government hopes to alleviate the housing crisis in the country and improve living conditions for Iranians. The plan also creates job opportunities and boosts economic growth by supporting the construction industry.
