US, Japan, Republic Of Korea Hold Economic Security Dialogue


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) WASHINGTON, Feb 28 (KUNA) -- A trilateral meeting between the US, Japan and South Korea took place in the State of Hawaii, and the three sides tackled the issue of economic security and supply chain resilience, the White House said Tuesday.
A statement by the White House said the dialogue came to strengthen economic security and partnership.
Participants were cabinet Councilor Yasuo Takamura from the National Security Secretariat of Japan, Secretary to the President for Economic Security Yunjong Wang of the ROK, and Senior Directors Tarun Chhabra and Nora Todd from the US National Security Council convened the inaugural meeting of the US-Japan-ROK Economic Security Dialogue in Honolulu, Hawaii.
The meeting was to deepen engagement on economic security and promote the common interests of the three countries, the trilateral discussed ways to collaborate on critical and emerging technologies, including in quantum and space technologies; increase supply chain resilience, including in semiconductors, batteries, and critical minerals; coordinate on measures to protect sensitive technologies; and operationalize Data Free Flow with Trust.
The meeting comes following the November 13, 2022 Phnom Penh Summit of the US, Japan, Republic of Korea Trilateral Partnership for the Indo-Pacific led by Prime Minister Kishida Fumio of Japan, President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea (ROK), and President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. of the United States. (end)
