St Mary's Catholic Church in Dubai helps sponsor cancer treatment for low-income patients
(MENAFN) St Mary's Catholic Church, the oldest church in Dubai, has partnered with various government organizations, hospitals, and medical establishments to provide medical assistance to more than 35 low-income cancer patients in the UAE. This initiative aims to sponsor, waive, or reduce medical expenses for these underprivileged patients.
Over the past year, the program has managed to cover over 60% of the target of Dh3.8 million required to support a total of 53 poor cancer patients by financing the cost of chemotherapy, radiation, surgery, and medication.
The church intends to continue such funding every year.
The program has so far received support from state organizations, private companies, and individual donors, and has been successful in raising over 60% of the target to date. Susan Jose, a volunteer and member of the organizing committee, expressed optimism in securing all the necessary funding. She mentioned that the Dubai community and the church have committed to supporting the needy annually and will ensure the treatment of the 53 patients that they have pledged to support.
The program has received sponsorship from several organizations, including Dubai Hospital, Burjeel, and the Aster group, to provide medical care to low-wage earners suffering from cancer.
Through this initiative, St Mary's Catholic Church hopes to provide a much-needed lifeline to those in need and to continue supporting these patients year after year.
