Gaza: HH sheikh Hamad Hospital for Rehabilitation and Prosthetics in Gaza, funded by Qatar Fund for Development, inaugurated two specialized units, the first of their kind in the Gaza Strip. The inauguration took place in the presence of Managing Director and Vice Chairman of Hamad Hospital Dr. Khaled Abd El Hadi, who is also the head of the delegation, along with Undersecretary of Palestinian Ministry of health Dr. Youssef Abu Al Rish, Consultant to the Chairman of the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza Yousef Al Ghraiz, and Director General of the Hospital Noureddine Salah, with the participation of doctors and specialists.

Dr. Khaled Abd El Hadi said that HH the Father Amir Hospital always seeks to keep pace with recent development in the health sector and new updates in modern medical sciences in order to treat patients, alleviate their suffering and provide them with distinguished health services in accordance with international quality standards.

He added that the two units constitute a qualitative leap in the health services provided in the Gaza Strip, which lacks the capabilities and equipment required in this field due to the blockade.

He noted the hospital's expansion in the provision of health services, especially in terms of treating diabetic foot patients and chronic diseases in line with the vision of the hospital's board of directors to address the lack of specialized health centers that treat this large segment of diabetics and patients with chronic diseases in an advanced and developed manner, especially since many patients with diabetic foot and chronic pain are forced to travel abroad in order to receive the necessary treatment, or most people with diabetic foot have their feet amputated due to the lack of treatment.

Dr. Abd El Hadi pointed out that the opening of the two units comes in conjunction with continuous training and development visits sponsored by the Qatari Ministry of Health and Hamad Medical Corporation, aiming to improve the performance of medical staff and improve the quality of services provided at HH the Father Amir Sheikh Hamad Hospital in the Gaza Strip.

He explained that the delegation's visit focused on five important axes including carrying out complex cochlear implant surgeries funded by the Qatari Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, performing operations in the field of urology, opening two units specialized in diabetic foot and pain treatment with training for Gazan medical staff, and training on the use of quality techniques in prosthetics for the staff of the limbs department, in addition to developing quality in HH the Father Amir Hospital through twinning with Hamad Medical Corporation.

He stated that coordination and daily follow-up with the medical staff in the two units will be increased, and that opportunities for treating different cases as well as identifying the needs of the two units in terms of required and advanced devices and equipment were discussed.

Undersecretary of Palestinian Ministry of Health Dr. Youssef Abu Al Rish praised the continuous efforts of the State of Qatar to support the health sector in the Gaza Strip by sending medical and developmental delegations at a time when the entry of medical delegations is a dilemma due to the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip, considering that the opening of the two new units will constitute a qualitative addition to the health services in the Strip.
