Turkiye's AFAD: 90 Aftershocks Followed Hatay Province's Quake


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) ANKARA Feb 21 (KUNA) -- Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) announced on Tuesday that 90 aftershocks, the strongest of which reached 5.8 degrees on the Richter scale, were recorded following the earthquake which struck the Turkish province of Hatay last night.
Anadolu News agency quoted AFAD in a statement that six people have died and 294 were injured, 18 of them in critical conditions, from the quake according to figures released by the Turkish Health Ministry.
Two new quakes measuring 6.4 and 5.8 on the Richter scale hit Hatay province Monday evening two weeks after a 7.7 and 7.6 quakes struck Kahramanmaras province and northern Syria, which caused massive devastation in human lives and properties in both countries. (end)
