Azerbaijan evacuates its embassy staff from Iran

(MENAFN- Hip Hop-24) Azerbaijan evacuated the employees of its embassy in the Iranian capital, Tehran, and the body of the security official who was killed in the armed attack, and transferred them to its lands on Sunday.
Anadolu correspondent said that the employees of the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran and their families, and the funeral of the security official, Orhan Askarov, arrived in the capital, Baku, on a plane.
The plane was received at the airport by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Khalaf Khalaf, and other foreign officials.
Khalaf told reporters that the attack on the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran was a terrorist act.
He pointed out that Baku did not expect such an attack, which cannot be accepted.
He stressed that every country is responsible for securing foreign embassies on its territory under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.
He added, "Of course, Iran bears responsibility for the terrorist attack that took place."
He called on the Iranian side to conduct a comprehensive and transparent investigation, punish the criminals, and identify the forces behind them.
He pointed to the suspension of all diplomatic activities in the embassy and keeping only 5 people to protect the building.
On Friday, the Azerbaijani embassy in Tehran was attacked by armed forces, killing an embassy security official and wounding two guards, and Iran announced the arrest of its perpetrator.
Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov described the attack as a "treacherous terrorist," stressing that the perpetrators and those who ordered it "must be punished in the shortest possible time."
