IIS Celebrates Republic Day Of India

Doha: The 74th Republic Day of India was celebrated at Ideal Indian School (IIS) with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm.

School President Dr. Hassan Kunhi M P unfurled the national flag amidst the chanting of the national anthem by the School Choir. Principal Shaik Shamim Saheb, Heads of Sections, Heads of Departments, Teaching and non-teaching staff, Scouts and Guides, parents and students joined the celebrations.

In his address, Dr. Hassan Kunhi M P emphasised the significance of the Republic Day celebrations. He said that it is an occasion to celebrate the rights and privileges of all citizens and to honour the brave patriots who sacrificed their lives to make India a free nation.

“It is the duty and responsibility of every Indian to protect the fabric of peace, tranquillity, tolerance and integrity of our motherland,” he added.

Addressing the gathering Principal Shaik Shamim Saheb urged the students to uphold the values of the Constitution of the country. He stated that we must aim for a society where everyone is free and respectable and has no fear of any discrimination based on political or geographical boundaries.

Students in their speeches reiterated their bond with their motherland and called upon the youth to live up to the traditions of their country and work for betterment.

Lukmam Hakim of class X spoke in English while Sara Tarik Parkar – Class VII presented her thoughts in Hindi. The school choir entertained the gathering with a song arousing patriotic feelings.

Boy Scouts and Girl Guides were honoured with certificates and medals for their valuable services rendered on various occasions.

Ahmed Mohamed. Faisal, Assistant Head Boy welcomed the gathering, Mary Stenicka, Assistant Head Girl proposed vote of thanks and Misha Mushtaq anchored the programme. The students took pride in glorifying and celebrating the spirit of unity and brotherhood.
