IRIB chief criticizes Western restrictions as obvious case of 'media dictatorship'

(MENAFN) The chief of the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) has slammed the restrictions forced on the broadcaster by the West, stating that they are an obvious violation of the right to free speech as well as an obvious example of "media dictatorship."

In a meeting, Peyman Jebelli made the address while talking on the monopolistic and authoritarian plans of anti-Iran media in addition to the West's implementation of severe restrictions on the IRIB as well as its associates in reply to latest foreign-supported protests in Iran.

While giving a speech to Fars News Agency, Jebelli highlighted that “for years, we have witnessed obvious inconsistency between the claims and actions of those who claim to be champions of free speech, democracy and respect for society, one of the examples of which is the U.S. violation of human rights by sanctioning the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting.”

He continued: “When Western and international organizations act to boycott the IRIB, they demonstrate how easily restrict free speech, with which they have long blinded the eyes of the whole world, occur.”
