NBR Honours 141 Highest Income Taxpayers

Dhaka : The National Board of Revenue (NBR) on December 28 honoured 141 highest income taxpayers at the national level for the fiscal year of 2021-2022 with tax cards, crests and certificates at a programme held at the Officers' Club in the capital.

Of the recipients, 76 individuals, 53 companies, and 12 in other categories have been selected as the highest and long-term best taxpayers after scrutinising the tax payments of taxpayers across the country.

Also, the best taxpayers at each district and city corporation level are awarded regionally.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal attended the event as the chief guest where NBR Chairman Abu Hena Md Rahmatul handed over the awards to the highest taxpayers.

Mustafa Kamal said tax collection has marked an outstanding growth in the last 10 years due to the contribution of top taxpayers.
'The contribution to the national revenue earning has been 14 to 15 per cent during this period,' he said.

Senior Secretary of Finance Division Fatima Yasmin was also present at the programme as a special guest.
Following are some of the top taxpayers NBR selected as per the National Tax Card Policy 2010 (amended):

Banking category: Standard Chartered Bank Ltd, Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd, the Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd, and Dutch-Bangla Bank Ltd.

Non-banking financial institution category: Infrastructure Development Company Limited, IDLC Finance Limited, Investment Corporation of Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Infrastructure Finance Fund Limited.

Leather industry category: Bata Shoe Company (Bangladesh) Ltd, Alliance Leather Goods and Footwear Ltd, and Lalmai Footwear Ltd.

Food and beverage category: Olympic Industries Ltd, Pran Dairy Ltd, and Square Food and Beverage Ltd.
Women category: Anwara Hossain, Amina Ahmed, Shahnaz Rahman, Tasmeen Mahmud, and Parveen Hasan.
Business category: Golam Dastgir Gazi, SM Ashraful Alam, SM Shamchul Alam, Mahbubur Rahman and Gazi Gholam Murtaza.
Salaried taxpayers: Mohammad Yusuf, Rubaiyat Farzana Hossain, Hosne Ara Hossain, Laila Hossain, MA Hyder Hossain.
Telecommunication: Grameenphone Limited.

Engineering category: Bangladesh Machine Tools Factory Ltd, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills and National Development Engineers Limited.

Energy category: Titus Gas Transmission and Distribution Company, Yamuna Oil Company and Petromax Refinery Limited.
Jute industry category: Akij Jute Mills Ltd, Aiyan Jute Mills Ltd, and Roman Jute Mills Ltd.

Spinning and Textile category: Coates Bangladesh, Paramount Textiles, Nahid Cotton Mills, ACS Textiles (Bangladesh), Badsha Textiles, Apex Textiles and N. Z. Textiles Limited.
Ready-made garment category: Square fashions Ltd., Universal Jeans Limited, Zaber and Zubair Fabrics Ltd, Youngone Hi-Tech Sportswear Industries Ltd, Pacific Jeans Ltd, and Snowtex Outwear Ltd.
