Knife attack in Germany leaves 1 victim


(MENAFN) Police in southern Germany have detained a man when he stabbed two girls on their way to school in the town of Illerkirchberg, one of whom later passed away of her wounds, according to experts on Monday.

A 14-year-old girl who was attacked by the suspect was sent to a hospital with serious wounds but died soon after arriving, police made an announcement.

She was a German resident with a migration background, as read by the declaration.

Her 13-year-old friend also sustained serious wounds but was in stable condition.

The suspect, a 27-year-old Eritrean shelter seeker, was detained at a nearby refugee shelter, where the knife used in the attack was also found.

Police added an investigation was continuing and asked to take care as the suspect’s motive and mental state were unidentified.
