(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) BRUSSELS, Nov 28 (KUNA) -- Saudi Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Adel Al Jubeir met European Commission's Executive Vice-President in charge of European Green Deal Frans Timmermans in Brussels on Monday to discuss energy relations and climate issues.
'Al-Jubeir is also the climate envoy of Saudi Arabia, so they are meeting in that capacity,' EC spokesperson for energy Tim McPhie told a news conference.
'It was a broad conversation on energy relations and climate issues on the back of the COP27 (held in Egypt) and looking ahead for potential cooperation for COP28 next year,' he said.
'There are several meetings taking place' with Al Jubeir in the European Commission, he noted.
The Saudi minister also met Margaritis Schinas - Vice-President of the European Commission and Ylva Johansson - European Commissioner for Interior Affairs. 'Very constructive meeting with H.E. Adel Al-Jubeir,' Schinas said on his twitter message.
'Together we must further people to people contacts and deepen our cooperation in areas of convergence such as climate, trade, mobility and security,' he added. (end) nk.gb
