Dubai Foundation for Women and Children (DFWAC) has taken part in the "Orange the World" campaign commemorating the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, which falls on November 25 of every year.

DFWAC participated in the event, together with the General Department of Human Rights at Dubai Police, to raise public awareness of women's rights and obligations, as well as to showcase the UAE's efforts in this area. The "orange" colour was selected to promise a brighter future free of violence.

During the event, the foundation's psychologists highlighted the services offered for women, along with a bundle of recommendations and policies designed to ensure better protection for women.

Meanwhile, DFWAC’s community awareness team disseminated tips through QR codes helping women overcome crises, and offering them guidance on how to recover from emotional trauma.

The foundation stressed that its participation in the campaign comes in line with its keenness to draw attention to the importance of making additional efforts to eradicate all forms of violence and discrimination against women, enhance public awareness, and empower women to leave indelible mark on society development, as well as to provide them with opportunities to fulfil their assigned tasks.

HE Shaikha Saeed Al Mansouri, Acting Director-General of the DFWAC, stressed that the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women provides an ideal platform to highlight the foundation outstanding efforts and key role in implementing the UAE’s strategies aimed at protecting women. Al Mansouri said that she is proud of the foundation's involvement in the "Orange the World" campaign in partnership with the Dubai Police, which makes outstanding efforts in this area.

She stressed that the UAE was ranked first in the region, and 24th globally in the Women, Peace, and Security Index 2021, published by the Georgetown Institute for Women, Peace, and Security, incorporating three basic dimensions of women’s well-being, economic, social, and political inclusion; justice (formal laws and informal discrimination); and security (at the family, community, and societal levels).

Al Mansouri lauded the UAE’s non-stop efforts to promote women's participation in all spheres of society, including the economy, politics, sports, and sciences.
