UN head thanks Türkiye’s first lady for standing with zero waste projects

(MENAFN) The UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres thanked Türkiye’s first lady Emine Erdogan for standing with zero waste initiatives throughout a session in New York.

“A responsible waste production and consumption is key to the achievement of the Global Goals,” according to a declaration by a UN issued on Twitter.

Replying to the declaration, Emine Erdogan declared: "In a short span of time, over 20 First Ladies, ministers, and representatives of international organizations have signed "The Global Commitment to Zero Waste” which we initiated with (Antonio Guterres). Together, through a joint effort, we will achieve the global #ZeroWaste goal."

Last week, the Turkish first lady and Guterres inked a goodwill document to extend Türkiye’s Zero Waste project around the globe.

They held a conference at the UN headquarters which faced environmental problems, as well as the Zero Waste project initiated in Türkiye by the first lady 5 years ago.
