Vivianne Miedema scored twice in Arsenal's commanding 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in front of a Women's Super League record crowd of 47,367 at the Emirates Stadium yesterday. Dutch international Miedema struck in either half after Beth Mead scored the opener, with Rafaelle Souza also getting on the scoresheet in a dominant performance for the hosts, to the delight of the partisan crowd. The attendance fell short of the 53,737 tickets sold for the match but still smashed the previous record of 38,262, which was set in the reverse fixture in 2019 when Arsenal won 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the WSL's first north London derby. Arsenal, who thrashed Brighton & Hove Albion 4-0 , have now won their last 10 WSL games — scoring 39 times and conceding twice — and kept a league record eight consecutive clean sheets.

Arsenal have“a good chance” to win the Premier League title this season in the absence of a dominant team, former manager Arsene Wenger said. League-leaders Arsenal are on 18 points from the opening seven matches of the season with defending champions Manchester City a point behind and Tottenham Hotspur also on 17 points.
“I would say they have a good chance this season because I don't see any super dominating team,” Wenger, who was in charge of Arsenal between 1996-2018, told Sky Sports.“I believe that it is a good opportunity to do it this season. Of course, it's a little bit of a special season as well because you have the World Cup in the middle and you don't know how much that will affect the performances of the individual players and of the teams. Overall, I believe there is a good opportunity there this season.” Arsenal next face rivals Spurs on Oct 1 after the international break.
Barca confirm injuries to Araujo and Kounde
Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo suffered a thigh-muscle tear while on international duty, his club said, while confirming Jules Kounde also had a thigh issue. Araujo was taken off inside the first minute of Uruguay's 1-0 loss to Iran in a friendly on Friday night.
Kounde lasted just 23 minutes of France's 2-0 Nations League win over Austria on Thursday. The central defenders will miss their countries' next match and are likely to be unavailable for Barcelona's first games when club football resumes.
