Russian gunfire in central Kharkiv leaves more than 5 deaths

(MENAFN) More than five people lost their lives on Tuesday over Russian gunfire which struck the center of Ukraine’s second city of Kharkiv, in agreement with the mayor.

Igor Terekhov went on to point out on his Telegram account that seven people were also injured.

The local governor, Oleg Synegubov, gave a slightly lower death toll of four and stated another four were hurt.

“The Russian occupiers shelled the central districts of Kharkiv,” Synegubov shared on Telegram, as he advised inhabitants to “stay inside the shelters.”

Located in northeastern Ukraine just 50 kilometers (30 miles) from the Russian frontier, Kharkiv managed to prevent bids by Moscow’s troops to seize the city, which had a population of some 1.4 million inhabitants ahead of the conflict.

It has been heavily shelled throughout the war, with hundreds of people dead, according to officials.
