37,500 Karakul Sheep Exist In Sar-I-Pul, Finds Survey
SAR-I-PUL CITY (Pajhwok): A private company called Positive Change has conducted a survey on the number of Karakul sheep in northern Sar-i-Pul province.
Funded by the Agriculture and Livestock Programme of USAID, the survey found that more than 37,000 Karakul sheep existed in the province.
Soor Gul Hasani, head of the Karakul Sheep Count, told Pajhwok Afghan News:“37,500 sheep of this breed were counted during the 10-day survey.
The study covered Sayyad, Sancharak, Sozma Qala and Gosfandi districts, as well as the provincial capital Sar-i-Pul City..
He added the survey was carried out in places where there were more Karakul sheep according to information from the Animal Health Directorate at the Agriculture Department.
According to Hani, the count of Karakul sheep was done by the Positive Change to receive global certificates in seven provinces of country.
