Taliban Acting Foreign Minister Departs For Uzbekistan

A high-ranking delegation led by Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban, left for Uzbekistan to attend the Tashkent conference, according to a statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
According to the Foreign Ministry of the Taliban, the delegation will attend the Tashkent conference at Uzbekistan's invitation. This conference will be held on the next day, Monday, 25th July, in continuation of the Tashkent conference of 2018 with the theme“Security, Economic Growth, and Regional Connectivity of Afghanistan.”
The countries participating in this conference have not yet been officially reported by Uzbek and regional news agencies, but the concerns of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan will be the center of our discussions.
According to the Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency, the Tashkent conference will continue for two days and begins tomorrow, Monday, July 25. Representatives from 20 international and regional countries will attend.
The main objective of the event, according to the Uzbek Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is to develop a set of measures and proposals for the approaches taken by the international community to promote stability, security, and post-conflict reconstruction in Afghanistan.
The Tashkent conference is important in ways more than one, as it discusses post-conflict reconstruction of Afghanistan and finding out how dangerous and active ISIS, extremist religious, and nationalist groups are in northern Afghanistan, along with the rockets that were launched onto the Tajik and Uzbek soils from Afghanistan.
For the Taliban, participating in events about Afghanistan gives them a platform from which to solicit aid, negotiate the reopening of Afghan and foreign embassies in the respective nations, and ultimately achieve international recognition.
