As part of its continuous humanitarian support, India delivered the seventh consignment of medical aid to Afghanistan today, containing 6 tons of essential medicines, according to an official statement of the Indian Ministry of External Affairs, released on 30th June.
Consistent with the statement, the medical supplies provided by the Indian government were delivered to the Kabul Indira Gandhi Hospital.
In response to the UN's urgent requests for aid for the Afghan people, India has so far provided 20 tons of medical supplies in seven batches, including 500,000 doses of the COVID vaccine, anti-TB drugs, and other important life-saving medicines.
The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Indira Gandhi Children Hospital, both in Kabul, have received these medical supplies.
India has also committed to providing 50,000 metric tonnes (MT) of wheat in food aid to Afghanistan, of which 35,000 MT have already been delivered.
India's recent consignment of 3,000 MTs of wheat in a convoy of over 50 trucks arrived in Afghanistan on 26th June.
India has advocated for unlimited humanitarian supplies to be provided to Afghanistan in order to address the country's escalating humanitarian crisis, nonetheless, it does not recognize the Taliban's de facto rule.
