Sale of US military drones to Ukraine has been halted

(MENAFN) According to Reuters, the White House has placed plans to supply four MQ-1C Gray Eagle combat drones to Kiev on hold because to concerns that the technology may fall into Russian hands.

The deal was initially authorized by the White House, but was later reported by the Pentagon's Defense Technology Security Administration (DTSA), which is entrusted with keeping high-value technology out of enemy hands, according to the article.

Officials are worried that the drone's radar and monitoring devices would be taken by Russians. According to Reuters, the issue had been neglected until it was raised during a meeting at the Pentagon late last week.

A source was cited as saying that the radar and sensors could now possibly be substituted for something “less sophisticated” in order for the sale to go through, but that could take months to complete.
