Bulgaria reviews ruble gas payments

(MENAFN) Bulgaria will talk over ruble payments for Russian gas with the European Commission, as stated by Energy Minister Alexander Nikolov in an interview with BTV station on Sunday.

Sofia had previously disallowed Moscow’s new settlement call to nations that forced bans against Russia.

Nikolov received a question on the point of nations such as Bulgaria, Poland and Finland for not agreeing with the call, after Germany and Italy have accepted to open ruble accounts.

As said by Nikolov, EU officials have clarified that payments in Ruble were a defilement of bans, while Sofia anticipates the European Commission to give extra restrictions.

The energy minister said “The level of solidarity and unity must be as high as possible. If there are exceptions, we will review them and see what the effects will be on the whole system.”
