Brazil: Law Authorizes Vaccine Donation To Other Countries

Brasília – The Brazilian Congress has authorized the government to donate COVID-19 immunizers to countries affected by the pandemic as a humanitarian cooperation. This is provided for in the Law 14,343 published in the Official Gazette on Friday (20).
According to the new law, it will be up to the Ministry of Health to intermediate donations, as well as determining amounts and destinations of the donated immunizers, as long as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is listened to.
The transport expenses of the donated immunizers will be paid by the destination country or the budget appropriation account of the federal government or other collaborators.
According to the new law, the donation will depend on the expression of interest and agreement to receive the immunizer by the benefited country.
