Original Fight Club ending restored in China after backlash

The first rule of fight club is, you don't talk about fight club. But, how can you keep silent when someone changes the climax of the classic film ? This is exactly what happened in China. People were angry when there was a different ending to Fight Club. However, following the massive outcry, the original ending of the hollywood classic 'Fight Club' is back on the Chinese streaming portal Tencent Video.
The Chinese version of the film's climax had formerly been altered to say that authorities had“rapidly figured out the full plan and apprehended all culprits,” according to the streaming portal. Fans slammed the action. Brad Pitt , Edward Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter star in David Fincher's 1999 film.
'Fight Club's new climax provoked outrage
The narrator, Edward Norton, still kills off his fictional alter ego Tyler Durden in the new version. However, a later sequence showing high-rise buildings facing blasts was cut from the Chinese version. Instead, viewers had a blank screen with a text informing them that authorities had prevailed.
“Through the clue provided by Tyler, the police rapidly figured out the whole plan and arrested all criminals. Successfully preventing the bomb from exploding,” it said.
Human rights organizations and Chinese viewers who had previously followed pirated versions of the original were both agitated by the edited climax. Foreign film censorship or bans are typical in China, but the total deterioration of 'Fight Club's climaxing provoked outrage. After obtaining backlash, the OTT platform refurbished the original ending over the weekend, according to social media users. However, the judgment had to face objection. Some internet users surmised that this meant Tencent was affirming the earlier censoring was“too excessive.”If the previous version can be out as well, why did Tencent change it without permission?” enquired another user.
